Basketball and birthdays go hand-in-hand

Yes it is winter.

And it’s nasty outside, with lots of rain or slushy junk puddled in the driveway. There are only two things worse than yucky weather, though.

One, to have a child’s birthday to celebrate during these nasty months.

And two, to fear that energetic little guests will enter your home and track the muddy mess all over the carpet, right along with dripping ice cream on the end tables and smushing birthday cake all over the couch cushions.

If you are a parent thinking about plans for a winter birthday, consider a basketball birthday. Check into renting the gym at your local parks and recreation center or one of the elementary schools. Request that party guests meet at the gym, dressed for a game. Decorate with a basketball theme, from the paper plates and napkins to the party favors. Look into decorating a sheet cake with the basketball goal and players, possibly in the colors of your birthday boy’s favorite team.

If you don’t have enough kids to play an actual game, set up some relay races and instruct the kids to dribble from one end of the court to the other or have a free throw competition.

Every one of us at the Basketball Goal Store know that sparking a kid’s interest in something as exciting as basketball only takes a moment and can become a life-long favorite. We also know that a Goalrilla Basketball Goal system can grow through the years with your children and their abilities. Durable construction, adjustable height backboards and quality materials that can’t be beat makes the Goalrilla Goal a once-in-a-lifetime purchase. With the unique anchoring system, the goal can even move with you from residence to residence!

So, even if winter and birthday parties start out as obstacles, these activities are great opportunities to celebrate physical fitness, team work and focus. Plus, once the party’s over, you won’t have a mess to clean up at home!
