Goalrilla CV54 vs Goalrilla GS60c

A new basketball goal is an exciting (and sizable) investment, so it makes sense to do your research and compare the various models to find the one that best suits your needs. One question we often hear at BasketballGoalStore.com is “What’s the difference between the GS60c and the CV54?”. This is a logical question because the two goals are at similar price points (and outstanding goals since they are both Goalrilla). So, we’d like to shed some light on some notable differences.

Benefits of the CV54 over the GS60c

The GS60c is the entry level 60” model in the Goalrilla lineup and the CV54 is the premium 54” model. Essentially this means that the CV54, though it features a slightly smaller backboard, is actually a better value.

The CV54 features a 5” x 5” 11 gauge one-piece steel pole. The GS60c utilizes a 5.5” x 5.5” 13 gauge steel pole. The 11 gauge steel of the CV54 provides a more rigid pole and better play.

The backboard of the CV54 is a 54” x 38” clear view tempered glass, and the GS60c has a 60” x 36” tempered glass backboard. While the GS60c is a bit wider, the CV54 is the taller of the two. The extra height allows for more rebounding and game play.

The CV54 also comes with the heavy weight rim upgrade. The heavy weight rim has a bigger spring and will snap back quicker and stand up better to aggressive play and dunking. While both rims are high quality, the heavy weight will prove to be more durable in the long run.

Among the many features that makes the CV54 very desirable is the inclusion of the universal pole pad and the backboard pad. The universal pole pad is a two-piece pad that includes the base cover that covers up the anchor bolts for safety. The backboard pad covers the hard edges along the bottom of the backboard to prevent head injuries. The padding package is a $340 value in itself.

With thicker steel, taller backboard, heavyweight rim, and padding package, the CV54 proves to be a better playing goal that offers more for your money.
