It may not seem like it, but often there are connections, threads that tie people and events together. Take this for instance:
- James Naismith invented the game basketball in Massachsetts in 1891. Later, at the University of Kansas, he coached Phog Allen
- Phog Allen ended up coaching Dean Smith
- Dean Smith coached one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Michael Jordan
Just like these links through the sport, people have been led there by fate; including Eddie Einhorn (who is debatably one of the architects of March Madness) and Ray Meyer. Both ended up deeply embedded in basketball history more by a series of events than by dogged determination.
Fate pushes Meyer into the teams he was destined to lead
Ray Meyer said he thought he’d do better in business, but kept falling into coaching positions. He’d taken a temporary coaching job in the ‘40s at Notre Dame to fill in for George Keogan who had had a heart attack. DePaul lured him away for $2,200 a year. The rest, as they say, is history.
Meyer’s first DePaul team to go to the Final Four was in 1942 – and he spent 42 years coaching at the school. (Wonder if 42 is his lucky number?)
Let fate lead you to a premium Goalrilla Goal at a great price
It’s like when a family starts looking for a basketball goal for their home. Often they pile everyone into the family truckster and drive off to the local big-box sport store. The kids – all excited – ooh and aah over the idea of an in-ground basketball goal at their house and it starts right there in the store.
“Hey, get this one!”
“No, this one!”
But parents know fate will lead them to the best deal and recognize it when they visit the Basketball Goal Store. There they find premium, in-ground Goalrilla Basketball Goals.
Compared with basketball goals available in retail stores, buying a Goalrilla Goal online at the Basketball Goal Store offers better quality (compare the thicknesses of materials, sizes and features) AND you get the system delivered free-of-charge – and with some goals, perks like free safety padding for the pole and backboard!
The Basketball Goal Store offers a big selection of overstocks at great prices – and when you install the perfect basketball goal system at your house – you can thank the Internet and fate!
