So, I was looking through some older photos that we had from the early Goalrilla days and I found an interesting one. This was a customer that had evidently purchased a Goalrilla goal from us years ago. Evidently, there had been a huge storm that had knocked down one of their old growth trees. As this tree was falling, it had actually fallen squarely on top of one of our Goalrilla goals, effectively hammering it into the ground about a foot or so. You can actually see from the picture of the anchor, how deep the anchoring system has actually… Read more »

Netting containment systems have been popular with Goalrilla owners for years. Nets keep the basketball out of the street, out of your flower garden, out of the neighbor’s bay window and out of the poison ivy at the bottom of the hill. You maximize your playing time by keeping the ball on the court. More practice means better skill retention. But with the convenience of a netting containment system also came some complaints. Some of our customer’s didn’t like nets that came out onto court or required concrete anchors to be poured in their lawns. Some didn’t like nets that… Read more »

There are two problems with pouring concrete in cold weather.  Concrete can freeze before it has a chance to  strengthen and concrete sets more slowly in cold weather.  This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wait until spring before you can enjoy that Goalrilla Basketball Goal that Santa left under the tree.  If that were the case, you would have been better off with a lump of coal in your stocking.  At least coal could have been used  to heat up your home on those frosty nights. So what do we need to do to break that cabin fever and… Read more »

Before we discuss what is different between a medium-weight flex rim and a heavy-weight flex rim, let’s discuss what is the same. For the uninitiated, they may appear to be the same. Sure they’re both orange. Of course, they are both spherical in nature and hold a nylon net with the help of twelve hooks. Most importantly,  both the medium-weight flex rim and heavy-weight flex rims are a regulation eighteen inches in diameter. Sorry, no excuses for those missed shots! So if the two rims are the same, why is there any reason to choose one over the other? Good question!  Well, once… Read more »

Amidst the excitement of purchasing a Goalrilla basketball goal, the overhang is something you may not initially think about. Overhang is the distance between the front of the post and the front of the backboard.  All Goalrilla goals have an overhang  of 2 1/2’ to 4’.  Typically, the deeper the overhang, the better, as the post is pushed back and removed from the playing area. The shorter the overhang, the more likely players are to run into the post during play.
